Art Exhibit Opening: Emma Windsor-Liscombe

June 1, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

EWL, or, Emma Windsor-‐Liscombe, is an emerging artist hailing from Vancouver, B.C. Her field of interest spans a range of art methods, however her current focus remains rooted in drawing and panel painting. This June, she will be exhibiting at Round Hill Studio in Annapolis Royal. The exhibition, Paper Nature, is the continuation of her Paper Garden, a recent collection exhibited in Vancouver. Paper Nature focuses on considering environmental and ecological damage and problems, sub-‐themes to her works looking at dying bees, endangered plants and animals-‐ many of which are Canadian species-‐ diminishing human interaction with nature; waste, and the documentation and ‘preservation’ of these creatures and themes upon paper and panel. She considers the lack of gardens in the lives of many people; the waste we create and the beauty in even the simplest dandelion. The show also considers species and environmental details specific to Nova Scotia. In so doing, she aims to preserve dying and endangered species, including those we consider pests, in lieu of a future which may call for a greater nurturing and estimation of even the lowliest species. EWL also aims to convey and intellectual and moral message within the scope of aesthetically pleasing creations, with a view to drawing in a larger audience, while also,in some cases, hoping to bring a more positive light to themes that are undesirable.
