GENIE & PIQL- A Proposal

Proposed Changes to the Donations and Grants Policy

There is currently a proposal to update the Donations and Grant Policy.  Under consideration is whether to replace this existing policy with 2 new policies.  These new policies will better allow Council to fund activities which align with the Strategic Plan. The focus will be on free activities occurring in Town, but other activities may still qualify.

The CURRENT Donations and Grants Policy

The first, to encourage economic development, is the Grant Encouraging New and Interesting Events (GENIE).  As noted, this is for new events, especially in months other than the “season”.

The second is a community development  policy,  Projects to Improve Quality of Life (PIQL). Qualifying projects include things such as lessons and sporting activities.

Both policies will be next discussed at Committe of the Whole on March 1st, 2023 starting at 6pm.
