Media Release – Deepest Sympathy

On Thursday, May 10, former Town Crier Peter Davies passed away peacefully after a long illness. Peter was the beloved Town Crier for the Town of Annapolis Royal and neighbouring communities for many years. He was an effective ambassador for the Town internationally as well as locally, representing the Town in Annapolis, Maryland, Royan, France and everywhere he travelled. He was a member of the Nova Scotia Guild of Town Criers and was instrumental in bringing various Town Crier events including championship events to the Town as well as introducing new events such as the Conkers Festival. He was also a valued member of the trombone section of the Annapolis Basin Community Band. The Town owes its two Town clocks to Peter and to his many friends and supporters who raised the funds necessary for their purchase, delivery and installation. On behalf of the Community, Council, Town staff wishes to express our sympathies to Peter’s wife and Town Crier Consort Val, to his children Sally, Ruth, Andrew, his grandchildren and to the rest of his family.
