Adult Lecture Series Salt Box Talks Revisited “Painting in Canada Part 1, In Celebration of Canada 150”

August 1, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

$6

We will trace the origins of painting in Canada from the early French patronage of the church in the 17th century to the English tradition of painting images of important officials, merchants and their properties. We will explore the Canadian landscape through the eyes of 18th century topographical painters, and the wonderful paintings of everyday life by Krieghoff and Kane. The works of the academically trained artists will also be explored, that would lead to the foundation of different art societies and associations, culminating with the foundation of The Royal Canadian Academy in 1880.

This program is designed for those who would like to discover and appreciate North Hills Museum and the surrounding community. The session will include a power-point presentation, a guided tour of the collection where applicable and refreshments. Each lecture is $6.00 per person. Registration required, call 902-532-2168 or email northhillsmuseum@gmail.com
