Our Maud Lewis

May 27, 2017 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Everyone is invited to bring their paintings and their experiences of Maud Lewis to ARTsPLACE in Annapolis Royal on Saturday afternoon, May 27th from 2:00 to 5:00. We will be watching the 1976 “World Without Shadows” and the 1998 “The Illuminated Life of Maud Lewis”. Shannon Parker from the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia will be bringing their experience of ‘hosting’ the Maud Lewis house . Ken Maher will be telling us of playing Everett, Maud’s husband. Nyna Cropas will be remembering her report on the Maud Lewis house. And Nancy (Parker) Dick will be baking ginger cookies and serving tea in memory of her visit to Maud Lewis with her grandmother.

King’s Film Society will screen “Maudie” the dramatic film starring Ethan Hawke as Everett and Sally Hawkins as Maud at King’s Theatre in Annapolis Royal on Friday, May 26th at 7:00 and on Sunday afternoon at 2:00, the 28th of May. After the Sunday afternoon screening at King’s Theatre everyone will be invited to offer their thoughts on Everett and Maud.

Ernest J. Dick, oral historian, husband to Nancy Dick and historian of sound and the moving image will curate the Saturday afternoon and Sunday afternoon discussions – and looks forward to hearing about the stories and memorabilia that you can bring
