Interact with craftspeople who will share their skill and knowledge of some of the traditional techniques used to reconstruct the Port-Royal Habitation. Enjoy demonstrations in hewing timbers, making shingles, turning wood, making handles for tools and blacksmithing. When you visit the Habitation, you will truly appreciate the architecture of this very unique structure.

Tall Ships Festival Sail Past- Port-Royal
Marvel as you watch seven tall ships sail into the basin in front of Port-Royal. They’ll be welcomed with a smudging ceremony and the gathering song with traditional music as part of the festivities. Visit Port-Royal open on this special evening, visit the wigwam and speak with the animators who will demonstrate traditional activities associated with the construction of the Habitation.

Over 400 years ago, the Mi’kmaq and the French met at Port-Royal. They shared knowledge and formed an alliance. The members of the Association des Acadiens-Métis-Souriquois continue to practice many of the traditions they learned from the Mi’kmaq. Through singing and drumming, through prayer, by taking part in a smudging ceremony and with demonstrations and displays, you will experience their rich culture.
