Cradle of Our Nation – National Historic District Tour

August 2, 2018 @ 2:00 pm - 3:10 pm

Journey along one of North America’s oldest thoroughfares with internationally-acclaimed heritage interpreter, Alan Melanson, and explore the Cradle of Our Nation. Stroll through the scenic National Historic District — the largest in Canada. The first capital of Nova Scotia and one of the most fought-over tracts of land in the colonization of North America, Annapolis Royal is a community with an epic saga to relate. From Port Royal 1605, one of the country’s oldest permanent European settlements, to winner of “World’s Most Liveable Small Community” in 2004, cultures and events have intertwined to form a colourful mosaic unparalleled in Canada. The National Historic District Tour brings 400 years to life and is an excellent visitor orientation to this unique region — showcasing both past and present. Discover the many “firsts” the area holds in Canadian history. Get the inside stories behind the national historic sites, colourful characters and landmark buildings. Learn about modern-day attractions and special events.

Meet at the Lighthouse in Annapolis Royal.

ADULT $10, YOUTH (13-18) $5, and CHILD (12 & Under) $3. Duration: 1:10 hr
