2023 Municipal By-Election June 10, 2023

Who can run for elected office:

  • Must be a Canadian citizen ad 18 years of age at the time of nomination day
  • Be ordinarily resident in the Town of Annapolis Royal for six months preceding nomination day and continue to reside in Annapolis Royal
  • Obtain a tax certificate that shows that as of nomination day all charges, taxes, and rates that represent liens on the property are paid up to date
  • Not be disqualified under the Municipal Elections Act

You qualify to vote if:

  • You are 18 years of age or older and a Canadian citizen on the first advance polling day (June 5, 2023);
  • You have been ordinarily resident in Nova Scotia for 6 months before the first advance polling day (since January 5, 2023); and
  • You are ordinarily resident in the municipality, or in an area annexed thereto, and have been so since immediately before the first advance polling day.
  • You are not otherwise disqualified to vote in the Special Election.

Election Key Points:

Nomination day –  Nomination papers may be filed by appointment from May 10th to 15th OR on Nomination Day May 16th, 2023 between 9am and 5pm

Voting starts Monday, June 5th at 9:00am

Election Day, Saturday June 10th   8:00am to 7:00pm
