Sport Programs and Fitness Classes

Annapolis Royal Recreation offers and supports a number of weekly sport and fitness opportunities for residents and visitors.

January to June 2026 Adult Pickleball (Age 18+) @ The Community Hub Gym, Annapolis Royal

Pickleball is a racquet sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. Two to four players use solid paddles to hit a perforated polymer ball, similar to a wiffle ball, over a net.

Public Sessions Registration Day: 
Registration starts at 9AM on January 19. – Please note, registration for the MWF 2-Session        is now closed.
People can register any time after registration opens, but it’s first come first served. Space is limited.

Court Rentals Wednesday from 4 pm to 6 pm and Sunday 2-4PM

Courts will be available for rental every Wednesday from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at a rate of $10 per hour per court. This is a fantastic opportunity to use the courts for private games, clinics, drills or even hiring a private coach.

Please note that you must bring your own ball, as balls will not be provided. Additionally, renters are responsible for setting up and taking down their own nets. Queries and cash payments will be handled by the volunteer coordinator Sandra Sexton and these sessions are sponsored by Hub Club Pickleball. Please be aware that we reserve the right to cancel any court booking if necessary.

Hub Club Pickleball

There will also be The Hub Club Pickleball club which will play at separate times from the public program. The club will be for those who are interested in advanced play.  For more information about membership, please email hubclubpb2018@gmail.com

 

Annapolis Royal Pickleball Club

Annapolis Royal Pickleball Club is another non-profit organization affiliated with Pickleball Nova Scotia and Pickleball Canada that provides competitive pickleball play at separate times from the public program and Hub Club. The Annapolis Royal Pickleball Club will be for those who are interested in more intense competitive play and will require a higher level of commitment from players to attend sessions.

The Club has two-hour weekly sessions from Noon to 2 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. It also offers a session for competitive play for all levels from Noon until 2 p.m. on Saturdays, and a session for ultra-competitive play from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.

People interested in registering for the Saturday noon session or playing as a guest in any Club sessions, can send an email to arpballclub@gmail.com for current availability and rate information.

 

 

Indoor Soccer (age 14+) @ the Community Hub Gym, fall/winter 2025

Cost: $120/year.  Join anytime, prorated rates available as the season progresses.

 

Adult Volleyball (18+) Join anytime

Sunday 7-9PM, Adults 16+,

Cost: $100/year, join anytime

 

 

Coed youth volleyball – Ages 14-16 

Beginner to intermediate youth players are invited to participate in just for fun scrimmages with coed teams. Bring water, indoor sneakers and a positive attitude to play some fun volleyball and improve game play.

Friday Night Youth Basketball (ages 12-18)

Cost: Free!

Tai Chi Group – Tuesday and Thursdays at 9 AM Starts Mid October 2025

Join this Tues & Thurs AM Tai Chi group and start your day off right! Learn as you go, all experience levels welcome.

Cost: Join anytime, prorated as of 2026 to $50 for remainder of session through June 2026

 

Safe Indoor Walking at the Community Hub Gym 

Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11AM-noon

$2 drop in fee

Join us for safe walking indoors during the winter months.  Indoor-only sneakers are required, and bring a water bottle!

 

Playground Revitalization Project – Playground is complete, but closed for the season until Spring 2026~
The Grant Potter Memorial Park and Playground located at 169 St. George street is now complete but is closed for the season due to snow and ice. The facility has been fully refurbished with exciting new play features, accessibility upgrades, fresh landscaping, and improved seating and rest areas for all.
The Town of Annapolis Royal would like to thank the Government of Canada, Province of Nova Scotia’s Dept of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage – Sport and Recreation Division, Cobequid Consulting, Joy Elliott Landscape Architectural Design, Anderson Weekes Construction, the Playground Design Working Group, support from Council and Staff, and the many generous financial donors who contributed to completing this project.

 

 

Tennis in Annapolis Royal

Please note: Courts are currently closed for the season
Accessing the courts: There is no cost to use the courts, but you must now register to receive the combination to the gate lock by contacting alc@annapolisroyal.com, by calling 902-955-1205, or by visiting Town Hall. The courts are open to all, and children under 12 must have parental supervision.  During busy times, please limit play time to 30 minutes in order to allow others to play.
The Annapolis Royal Tennis Club is always looking for new members. Seasonal membership rates for all play is $50 adult. The fee for vacationers is $5/week to play on club doubles days. To become a club member, please join the club at one of their scheduled play times. All skill levels are welcome, and this is a super fun community organization to join!. There are also doubles tournaments that are open to the public on all holiday weekends.

Club Play Times – Senior Play Times (65 yrs and older) M-W-F mornings from 10- 12 

Regular Club Times – Tues. and Thurs. 5pm – Dusk, Sundays from 2pm till 5pm
